A personal trainer is sought for a number of reasons. The most common reason is to lose weight. However, a trainer is also turned to for help in gaining muscle, or complying with their doctor's recommendations (e.g. lowering blood pressure).
Our primary services are strength training. The reason for this is that muscle toning leads to an increased metabolism, which, no matter what your goal is, is bound to be beneficial. Many of our clients want or need diet advice, and we do provide recommendations in this area. Our trainers provide initial and periodic analysis of our clients including body fat measurements to track progress. Also, we direct our clients' cardiovascular routines, and provide various other miscellaneous services all over Long Island.
If you have read this far into this site you probably already realize that making significant changes in one's body is not easy. There are a number of variables that affect fitness training, and because no two people are exactly alike, each body needs a unique plan to make that transformation happen. The amount of knowledge that goes into such a plan is vast. In fact, it is a job. It is a personal trainer's job to gather all the necessary information from a client, and formulate a plan to help him or her reach their goals. You might have tried to succeed on your own, only to wind up spinning your wheels. If you have reached this point it is certainly time to call in a professional.
A trainer will sit down with you to discuss your fitness goals and make recommendations on a course of action to help you meet those goals. The trainer will also do an initial fitness assessment, including girth measurements, and body fat analysis. Clients can also expect to go through a small workout on this visit. It is a good idea to wear loose clothing, such as sweats for workouts.

There are certifying bodies in the fitness field which are not reputable. Premier Fitness Training only employs trainers who are certified by the most reputable certifying bodies, including the American Council on Exercise. People with a personal trainer certified by ACE can expect that they are in the care of a professional who has been vigorously trained and tested, and who is also insured.
We sometimes train clients in places other than their own homes, such as condominium fitness centers. If a client wishes to train in a commercial gym, we will try to make arrangements for that as well. There are many commercial gyms that do allow outside companies to assist client inside their facilities for a fee.
